Price of Cooking Oil Increased, Did the Seller Faced Loss?

Recently, in the last few weeks, the price of cooking oil has increased quite high and it has caused a little chaos in society. The current cooking oil chaos is still not over after weeks passed. The longer it is not resolved, this condition reveals many things that require a lot of attention. Many people try to survive amid this slippery commodity.

One of them is a food seller in Benda Baru Village, Tangerang Regency, Selatan District, as experienced directly by Mrs. Jaitun (36). She admitted that the price of necessities has recently decreased a lot due to the very high price increase and stated that she is very upset and also difficult because she feels dizzy about the high prices so she has to rearrange the profit. And on the other hand, if she makes too much profit she's also not comfortable with customers. Customers also always complain every time they shop in her place, they say that the price of necessities goes up every time they go for Eid. Mrs. Jaitun has been trading for almost 7 years.

Not only did cooking oil experience a price increase, but also the price of other food items also experienced a price increase. “Butter, flour, Indomie, oil, and eggs (also increased). But I don't know why, even though the price is high, more people are buying it, because according to them, like it or not, they still have to buy it because it's a staple food. If you don't buy it, what do you want to eat?” said Jaitun.

With the increase in the price of necessities, it did not make Mrs. Jaitun's customers leave, because customers say that shopping at the warung is cheaper than at the supermarket, and also closer to home. With the increase in oil prices, many complain every time they shop, but like it or not, customers keep buying them because if they don't buy what they have to eat.

An increase in food prices also gives an impact on the total outcome and income, so, how were the current total outcome and income impact compared to before the increase in food price? “Before the price of basic food went up, my income could exceed my capital, but now I can only have enough without more, sometimes I don't even get a return on investment,” said Mrs. Jaitun clearly.

Seeing the current conditions regarding many basic needs that have experienced an increase in prices, the community and especially traders, including Mrs. Jaitun, hope that the government will immediately provide a solution and reduce the prices of oil cooking and basic commodities.
